In implementing BPR we perform the following steps:
- Identify repetitive business processes in the organization
- Identify any bottlenecks and/or capacity limitations
- Identify process that can be automated and ones that cannot
- Identify the deliverables at each step of the process
- Survey the stakeholders and process participants for input on how to improve the process
Reengineer and breakdown the process into smaller stages and assign responsibility to specific actor(s) for these stages
Develop approval processes for each step as necessary
Select and use appropriate automation technologies for each stage of the process
Test and develop metrics to measure new productivity gains for each new process
Continuous checking and evaluating the process and adapting the process as more productivity is gained for higher ROIs
